Lyrics

Verse 1

The sun sets
Darkness stays
A piece of brightness
Fades away
Colors blend
Vision’s unclear
All is calm
Silence fills the air
Black as night
The sky appears
Little left it seems unfair

Verse 2

Lives snatched, stolen in vain
Figures of strength no longer remain
Loved ones frantically ringing the phone
Of the ones they love
Who will soon be left alone
Lives desperate and in pain
Choosing to dive
Than face the flames

An hour ago the children played
Laughter rang out loud
But soon their parents never arrived
And emptiness screaming
Was the only sound

Verse 3

We build our lives and make our plans
Believing we control what lies ahead
But all we treasure can fade away
And life can change within a day

We rush through life and hurry by
While hurting hearts are left behind
A passing word, a hurried “hi”
While tears are hidden in their eyes

Verse 4

They’re searching for someone who understands
Someone to walk with them, a helping hand
Someone to tell them of a Savior who died
And promise they’ll never walk alone in this life

For many look as though they’re doing okay
But deep inside, their hearts are breaking away
They long to belong, they’re drowning in pain
Searching for something that life cannot name

Verse 5

The answer is found in the love God has shown
He sent His Son so we’d never be alone
So long ago, Christ Jesus came
He bore our sorrow, our sin and shame

His life was perfect, yet He chose to die
He took our place on a cross raised high
“Father, forgive them,” He cried through His pain
And through His sacrifice, we can live again
